I thought I'd be okay to go outo n the elliptical last night for a bit. After about 3 minutes I realized that was a very bad idea. My foot/toe was throbbing so I hobbled in, propped it up, and put on the ice pack. I was determined to get something done, so once my toe was good and numb I was on to the Wii.
As long as I can stay barefoot I can do most of the activities. I'm still getting the hang of step. For some reason it will tell me I miss when I didn't, and keeps telling me to step off more slowly. If I did that, then I would miss?!

good direction...
I did a balance checka nd weigh in this morning. My center of balance is a little to the right. This is not a surprise considering my left toe still hurts quite a bit. The good news is that I was down almost 3lbs from last week! My BMI is now at 28.6, which is still not quite close to my goal but I know it won't happen overnight.
*sigh*

can do yoga
It looks like I can do a bunch of the yoga poses, even with a broken toe. I did the Bridge and Shoulder Stand last night. I always liked the shoulder stand. I'm still hoping to get to the yoga studio near my house soon. They have a beginner's class on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. I just need to let my toe heal a little more and call the person who said she'd go with me. Someone who used to go there told me it's interesting because they get a lot of shirtless guys (Hot Yoga).
I also managed to try the ski jump a couple of times.

no more excuses
I'm done with excuses. Last night I did have to attend a meeting out in the far reaches of Chesapeake, but no plans tonight - except to get with my WFP for a bit. Then I'll probably be icing my toe.

missing wii
my Mii is being neglected due to the enormous pain that still exists in my little toe. The swelling hasn't gone down yet so I am still stuck trying to stay my off my foot and keeping it elevated.
After a couple of days off, my goal this evening is to determine which Wii Fit Plus activities can be done without puting any weight on one's foot. Boxing? Shoulder Stand?
P got a skin at Target last week to cover our balance board and I haven't even been able to check it out yet.
I realize I am doing this for myself, but it is a public blog and my hope is that someone somewhere *might* get something out of, or contribute something to it. Has ANYONE found me yet?

Pain
In this case pain makes a toe black and blue. My pinky toe on my right foot got caught on the foot of the bed as I was walking by today and is likely broken. ouch. It's big, purpley blue, and painful. Therefore I have to take a night off of the WFP. Sorry everyone. Hopefully I will be able to put shoes on tomorrow.

moving along
I did some basic balance things last night and then decided to try out the bicycling in the training plus section. Steering was easier than thought, but the walking in place to pedal was a bit awkward. It was a nice little stroll around the island for a couple of times. Since we added a profile for our cat he joined me along the way. That was funny since our cat is indoors only, old, and pretty much just sleeps all day. I must have had some tasy treats in my pocket.
I'm not feeling much progress yet, even with my good calorie tracking. But I must remind myself that it's only been a week that I've really been sticking to this so I need to give it time. Plus, I did have a handful of M&Ms and some peanuts last night. I also need to ask P to start making some lower sodium meals.

32 minutes = an hour or more
I did 32 minutes of actual activity with the WFP last night! longest ever, and it took almost an hour because of the loading and watching the demos. I am an excellent hula hooper (is that the term?) and have improved with the ski jump. I still have yet to try the candle burning thing, but I have finally added some of the yoga postures to my routine.
I tried out the skateboarding last week in the plus section and was actually pretty good. My brother had a skateboard ramp (6ft spine) in our backyard when we were little so I used to hang out there and watch the boys. I tried a few moves, but never got the hang of the ollie and since that is the base of all the tricks you're pretty screwed without it. I wish the snowboarding allowed you to go "goofy foot" (right foot in the front) like the skateboarding does.
Right now I'm at work and am sitting on a giant exercise ball in hopes of improving my posture and abs.

First post
This is my first public blog and is designed to document my year with the new Wii Fit Plus. I received this as a Christmas gift. We've had a wii gfor over a year, but never had the wii fit.
A little about me. I'm female, 35 years old, married to "P", with 3 children. Our son, "S", is 6 and has ADHD (it's not the "he'll grow out of it" or "he just needs structure" kind.) Our identical twin girls, "L" and "M", are 3 and love to read and dance. I work full-time and have just not made the time and effort needed to drop the 30+ pounds I've gained/kept on since my twins were conceived.
Prior to having kids I was very into exercise, including jogging and yoga. I am not committed in a new year's resolution kind of way, but in a "THIS MUST BE DONE FOR ME, DAMMIT!" kind of way. Got it?
I've used the wii fit plus for a week now. My original fitness age was 38 and my BMI was 29 (overweight, bordering on obese). After one week I have lost 3lbs, my balance is almost centered, and my BMI is down to 28.2
I am going to use this blog mostly to track my wii fit plus (WFP) progress, but note that I am also tracking my calories at www.livestrong.com and plan on integrating a hot yoga class and other exercises as time goes on.
My secondary goal with this blog is to post something everyday. If I post daily, then I have to do something with the WFP so I have something to write, right? Also, the mosre I do, then the more likely I can bump my husband out of the many top 10 spots he's already claimed.
S has basketball practice tonight so I will be giving the girls their baths and getting them to bed alone. That's usually exhausting enough. My hope is to also get in the 30min yoga routine I set up two nights ago with the WFP.
